About Alexis Tahinci

Prior to forming her own law practice in 2022, Alexis Tahinci spent more than seven years working directly for a United States District Judge, handling numerous lawsuits regarding alleged unlawful employment actions, contractual breaches, and other violations of federal and state laws.  She understands these cases inside and out, having assisted in deciding countless motions and having sat through dozens of trials.

Alexis previously worked for a 130-lawyer firm in Pennsylvania and a 35-lawyer firm in Tennessee and Virginia, where she represented employers and business entities.  She knows how companies and their lawyers approach cases, which gives her a distinct advantage in advocating for employees and individuals on the other side.

When Alexis was in high school, her father lost the job he had held for nearly his entire adult life, just a few years shy of retirement eligibility.  She witnessed first-hand the devastating emotional and financial impact of employment loss.  Early in her own career, she was subjected to sexual harassment by a superior.  She has a keen understanding of the indignity and psychological distress caused by discrimination and harassment in the workplace.  Because of these personal experiences, coupled with her lifelong heart for civil rights, she is especially drawn to employment law and discrimination matters.  She approaches her clients with empathy and respect.

Alexis graduated second in her class from Penn State’s Dickinson School of Law, where she served as Managing Editor of the Penn State Law Review.  She was the top-ranked student at her campus, having obtained the highest grade in nine of her courses.  She was also first in her class at Hollins University, where she completed her undergraduate studies.  She is licensed to practice law in Virginia and Tennessee.

Alexis serves as President of the Abingdon/Southwest Virginia Chapter of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association (VWAA) and is a member of the statewide VWAA Board.  She is the East Tennessee Director-at-Large for the Tennessee Lawyers’ Association for Women (TLAW).  Alexis has previously served on the boards of several other organizations, including Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems, Inc., the State Street Artist Cooperative (Bristol), and the Art Association of Harrisburg.  She has taught continuing legal education classes to other lawyers and stays up-to-date on developments in the law.

Originally from south central Pennsylvania, Alexis relocated to the Tri-Cities area in 2012.  She resides in Kingsport, Tennessee with her husband and two children.
